Chris Clem: Playing Politics

See question 5 in the previous post? Well, Here we go.

I figured it would not be long before House Republicans decided to take what is a bipartisan ethics issue and try to make it political fodder. Chris Clem seems to have decided to fire the first salvo. Nothing better than a low-grade back bencher to try and get the games underway.

First off, Chris, it's the Democratic party, not the "Democrat Party". But that's not even close to where we begin here.

For the first time in a long time, our state has a chance to work on a bipartisan effort to clean up politics, and such was the path our Governor and the bipartisan leadership of the House and Senate laid out on Thursday at their press conference.

This was a disappointing and ultimately damning lapse of ethics and judgment for legislators on both sides of the aisle. And while you back away from Newton, you can't back away from the R after his name. He is a Republican, and a corrupt one at that. If he loves the Democratic party so much, what stopped him from just switching parties?

Let's not play politics here. Not now. Hopefully Chris Clem doesn't represent the greater wishes of his party as he seeks to turn a state crisis into just another TeamGOP blast e-mail. Instead, let's hope he grows up and takes a mature approach to moving our state forward.

Comments:
Chris Clem is the type of cheerleader who would quickly seize the opportunity and make this a one-sided partisan issue; he is also a mere repeater of others' talking points (including the tactic of referring to the DP as the "Democrat Party" -- he's just echoing).

That said, I fear that Lt. Gov. Wilder and others (including Stuart James) are being just as one-sided and partisan in their defenses of the indicted lawmakers.

Citizens should take note of these instances of petty game-playing and factor them in to election decisions, regardless of a player's political party.

Joe, you are not allowed to beat me to my next post! The more I thought about it after writing this one, the more I realized I was sort of throwing stones in a glass house if I didn't talk about Wilder.

I do see some difference, though, between Wilder/Clem and party folks like Stuart James. Their role is more inherently partisan - you'd hope they'd stay above the fray, but atthe same time, their allegiance and loyalty is solely to their party. Lawmakers, though, have a (sworn) obligation to act in the best interest of Tennessee. Maybe an idealistic difference...

Rebelling for a great cause

I'm no James Dean by far. However, I'm Rebelling for a great cause, our children in Tennessee and the surrounding states. The Southern states have the worse Divorce Laws of our nation. Laws that deprive children of their Biological Father.
My biggest concern is Tennessee's Family Law. Our Legislature's intent was to protect the women / mother's from domestic violence. The lawyers and the mother's are misusing these laws, wasting many state resources. Rather it's to protect the mother, children, or father / husband. These cases take much need resources form other more important issues.
These Judges who set upon the bench in Tennessee Family Courts, "see no value in the Father-child relationship". Against many studies which prove differently! The judge may be forced by the witting of our domestic and divorce laws to award custody to the mother solely. Nevertheless that's what the judges have been doing for many here for many years! These actions are destroying the social foundation of our state and nation, (Families) Studies have proven that children from a divorce or signal mother household are 5 times more likely to end up in Juvenile detention or involved with crime and/or drugs and alcohol use.
There are other studies which prove 7 out of 10 mother use Alienation Tactics against the father. (These numbers are rising daily) In affect this is a Hate crime! Still our Judges and Legislature do nothing to correct the problem. Absence of the father in these children's lives have been proven to have immediate and long term affects.
Our Senate did act passing House Bill 1729 (equally Shared Parenting Time) As hot of an issue as it is. The Joint Committee of Children & Youth have pulled the Bill from the floor to prevent a vote! With 62 supporters, they know it will pass. If the truth is known the divorced women of this state don't want this Bill to pass for the reason of child support. If "both" parent's have the children 50% of the time. It would stop the gravy train they've been riding . This Bill doesn't fix everything, However it's a great place to start. As one wise divorced father said; " We must strike while the iron is Hot" "We can polish it at our leaser"
My fellow Tennessian's you must ask yourself these questions? Why is this such a Hot Topic? and why is our Legislature refusing to act on this issue? "I believe you'll come to the same conclusion as I did, Money! Divorce is Big Business in Tennessee!" How much did your lawyer cost you? How much money is paid through the state or the court, for child support or court costs? No matter what number you come up with, It's a lot of money! Somebody must be getting rich. While our children suffer.
One woman lawyer spoke about this saying; " This is a hot issue and will require much debate" "it will likely not come to a vote this year!" Let me warn you divorced father's. Next year is the last year it can be brought up! Call your Legislature and Repersentive's today, ask what's the problem. When they tell you the Bill was pulled because it didn't have enough support. Ask them if 62 supporters isn't enough?

Respectfully,
